What is StairSpec?

StairSpec is a browser-based staircase configurator that generates parametric 3D geometry from rise, going and width in millimetres, and checks every configuration against UK Building Regulations Part K as it changes.

StairSpec lets someone specify a bespoke staircase by setting rise, going and width in millimetres and watching the geometry rebuild in real time. Pricing updates with the specification, and every configuration is checked against UK Building Regulations Part K as it changes — so an unbuildable staircase cannot be quoted.

What StairSpec does

  • Parametric geometry — components generated procedurally from the dimensions entered
  • Live compliance checking against UK Building Regulations Part K
  • Rules-based pricing that updates with the specification
  • Metric by default, because that is how UK stair manufacturers actually work
  • Material rendering with accurate grain and finish
  • Works from 375px phones through to ultrawide displays

How StairSpec is built

  • Procedural stair geometry rebuilt on every dimension change without dropping frames
  • Part K encoded as live constraints rather than a post-hoc validation step
  • A pricing rule engine kept separate from the geometry so commercial terms change without a rebuild

Common questions about StairSpec

What is StairSpec?

StairSpec is a browser-based configurator for bespoke staircases. You set rise, going and width in millimetres, the geometry rebuilds in real time, and pricing updates with the specification.

Does StairSpec check building regulations?

Yes. Every configuration is checked live against UK Building Regulations Part K, which governs stair geometry. Compliance is enforced as a constraint while you configure rather than validated after ordering, so an unbuildable staircase cannot be quoted.

Does StairSpec need an app or sign-up?

No. It runs entirely in the browser with no install and no sign-up, from 375px phones through to ultrawide displays.
