Deadrise — specification engine for boatbuilders
Every option on a boat adds kilos, and kilos move speed, range, trim, price and delivery. Deadrise makes that visible while you configure.

What is Deadrise?
Deadrise is a specification engine for boatbuilders that tracks the weight of every option and shows how that weight moves speed, range, trim, price and delivery.
Deadrise is a specification engine built around the thing that actually matters in boatbuilding: weight. Each option a buyer adds carries a mass, and that mass propagates into performance, trim, price and lead time. Rather than presenting options as a flat list with prices, it shows the downstream consequence of each one. Builders are added as configuration packs — a folder of JSON and assets, no code.
What Deadrise does
- Weight-aware configuration: every option carries a mass that propagates through the model
- Consequences surfaced as you configure — speed, range, trim, price and delivery
- Multiple builder ranges, each with its own vessel types and option sets
- Superyacht tenders, performance RIBs and motor yachts represented
- Support for supplied hull geometry alongside generated vessels
- New builders added as a configuration pack of JSON and assets, requiring no code
How Deadrise is built
- A weight-and-consequence model, which is materially harder than option pricing and is the reason the tool is useful
- Data-driven builder packs, so onboarding a new manufacturer is a content task rather than a development one
- Handling both generated geometry and hull geometry supplied by the builder
Common questions about Deadrise
What is Deadrise?
Deadrise is a vessel specification engine built around weight. Every option a buyer adds carries a mass, and that mass propagates into performance, trim, price and lead time — so the consequence of each choice is visible while configuring.
Why does Deadrise track weight rather than just price?
Because on a boat, kilos are the constraint that matters. Options change speed, range and trim as well as cost, and a configurator that only totals prices hides the trade-off a buyer is actually making.
How are new boatbuilders added to Deadrise?
As configuration packs — a folder of JSON and assets. Adding a builder requires no code, and the engine supports both generated geometry and hull geometry supplied by the builder.

Deadrise is one of several configurators I build and operate. If you manufacture something with options, the same approach applies to your product line. Based in Birmingham, UK, working remotely.
